See brief account in Laurent, 1972, Explor. Parc Natl. Virunga, Ser. 2, 22: 46-47. Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 269, discussed unnamed species masquerading under this name: one found at high altitudes in Cameroon and on the Obudu Plateau in Nigeria, the other likely represented by the East African population. Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 205-206, provided an account. See account for Cameroon by Amiet, 2012, Rainettes Cameroun: 513-521.
