Hyla glandulosa Boulenger, 1883, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 5, 12: 164. Syntypes: BMNH 1947.2.20.40-41 (83.5.24.14-15) according to Condit, 1964, J. Ohio Herpetol. Soc., 4: 90; BMNH 1940.2.20.40 [in error for 1947.2.20.40, according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 166] designated lectotype by Duellman, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 456. Type locality: "Guatemala".

Plectrohyla cotzicensis Stuart, 1948, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 61: 17. Holotype: UMMZ 95902, by original designation. Type locality: "Source of the Rio Cuilco on the slopes of Cerro Cotzic about 2 kilometers northwest of Ixchiguan, Departament of San Marcos, Guatemala. Elevation, about 3500 meters." Synonymy by Duellman, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 455.

English Names

Forest Spikethumb Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 62).

Distribution

Widely distributed in fir forest, pine-cypress forest, and montane grasslands at elevation of 2400-3500 m in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes and the central and southern highlands of Guatemala.
