Comment

Some populations previously referred to Leptopelis modestus may actually be of this species according to the original publication. Lötters, Wagner, Bwong, Schick, Malonza, Muchai, Wasonga, and Veith, 2007, Fieldguide Amph. Rept. Kakamega Forest: 37-38, provided an account. Greenbaum, Portillo, and Kusamba, 2012, Afr. J. Herpetol., 61: 113-127, included this species in their molecular tree and found it to be distant from Leptopelis modestus.
