Phyllodytes maculosus Cruz, Feio, and Cardoso, 2007 "2006", Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 64: 322. Holotype: MNRJ 41669, by original designation. Type locality: "BRAZIL: MINAS GERAIS: Municipality of Bandeira (15º 49′ S, 40º 30′ W; 837m above sea level)".

Atlantic forest of Minas Gerais and Bahia, Brazil.

Freitas and Silva, 2008, Herpetol. Rev., 39: 106, provided a new record for Bahia and discussed briefly the range.
