Hyla xanthosticta Duellman, 1968, Univ. Kansas Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist., 17: 562. Holotype: KU 103772, by original designation. Type locality: "south Fork of the Río Las Vueltas on the south slope of Volcán Barba, near the northwest base of Cerro Chompipe, Heredia Province, Costa Rica, elevation 2100 meters". Savage, 1974, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 22: 103-104, commented on the type locality.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality on the south slope of Volcan Barba in the lower montane zone, 2100 m elevation, Heredia Province, Costa Rica.

Comment

See account Duellman, 1970, Monogr. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas: 292-294, who considered it to be in the Hyla rivularis group. This group was included in the Hyla pictipes group by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 887, and who suggested that this species may be extinct. In the Isthmohyla pictipes group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 103.
