Resurrected from the synonymy of Hyla granosa (now Hypsiboas cinerascens) by Hoogmoed, 1979, Zool. Verh., Leiden, 172: 15, where it had been placed by Rivero, 1961, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 126: 101. Lynch and Vargas Ramírez, 2001 "2000", Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 24: 588, provided the Colombian record. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 134-135, provided a brief account and photo. Venezuelan record provided by Señaris and Vernet, 1997, Herpetol. Rev., 28: 207.
