Hyloscirtus tigrinus Mueses-Cisneros and Anganoy-Criollo, 2008, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 48: 130. Holotype: ICN 53804, by original designation. Type locality: "COLOMBIA, Departamento de Nariño, Municipio de Pasto, Corregimiento El Encano, Reserva Natural Privada Castelví, (ca. 01° 10′ 55.18”N, 77° 09′ 44.45W), 3060 m."

Distribution

Known from the type locality at about 3000 m elevation on the Nudo de Pasto, Departamento de Nariño, and Laguna de La Magdalena, between the municipalities of San Sebastián (Department of Cauca) and San Agustín (Department of Huila), as wel as in Putumayo, Colombia; reported in adjacent Ecuador at Santa Bárbara, Provincia de Sucumbíos, Ecuador.

Comment

In the Hyloscirtus larinopygion group according to the original publication. See comments in Mueses-Cisneros and Anganoy-Criollo, 2008, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 48: 129-138. Montezuma and Mueses-Cisneros, 2009, Check List, 5: 243-245, provided the second locality record, discussed the range, and provided a map and photograph. Coloma, Carvajal-Endara, Dueñas, Paredes-Recalde, Morales-Mite, Almeida-Reinoso, Tapia, Hutter, Toral-Contreras, and Guayasamin, 2012, Zootaxa, 3364: 31-32, reported the species in Ecuador and commented on the range.
