Distribution

Highlands of southern Mexico (central Veracruz, eastern Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and southeastern Puebla to mountains of Oaxaca, including those south of Oaxaca City).

Resurrected from the synonymy of Hyla eximia by Nieden, 1923, Das Tierreich, 46: 245, where it had been placed by Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 378. See account (in the sense of including Hyla bocourti) by Duellman, 1970, Monogr. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas: 505-510; see note by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 987. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 616.
