Comment

In the Hyla arborea group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 101-102 (see comment under Hyla), and Hua, Fu, Li, Nieto-Montes de Oca, and Wiens, 2009, Herpetologica, 65: 246-259. See Pope, 1931, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 61: 466; Liu, 1950, Fieldiana, Zool. Mem., 2: 225; Okada, 1931, Tailless Batr. Japan. Empire: 64-66; Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 223-226; and Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 132-134, for discussion. See account by Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 201. Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 146-147, provided a brief account, map, and figure (as well as excluding southern China and Vietnam from its distribution). Huang, 1990, Fauna Zhejiang, Amph. Rept.: 50-51, provided an account for Zhejiang populations. Zhang and Wen, 2000, Amph. Guangxi: 63, provided an account for Guangxi. Zhang, 2002, Sichuan J. Zool., 21: 198-199, provided a key to differentiate this species from others in China. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 18, provided a specific locality for Vietnam (Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Province). Because Hyla annectans is also recorded for this same locality one must question the identification of the sole Vietnam record (DRF). Lue, Tu, and Hsiang, 1999, Atlas Taiwan Amph. Rept.: 32-33, provided a brief account for Taiwan. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 644-649, provided an account and spot map. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 246-247, provided a brief account including photographs.
