Hyla catracha Porras and Wilson, 1987, Copeia, 1987: 478. Holotype: KU 197336, by original designation. Type locality: "Zacate Blanco (14° 20′ N, 88° 15′ W), a village located 14 km WNW of La Esperanza, 2020 m, Sierra de Opalaca, Departamento de Intibucá, Honduras".

Distribution
Hardwood cloud-forests in the cordilleras Opalaca and Montecillos and the Montaña La Sierra on both sides of the continental divide in southwestern Honduras, at elevations of 1800-2160 m.
Comment
In the Hyla pinorum group, most similar to Hyla melanomma, according to the original publication. In the Hyla miotympanum group of Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 917-919, who provided an account. See also McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 258-262, who noted that previous records from El Salvador are from a formerly disputed region, now under Honduran sovereignty.
