Type locality: "Isla Bonita (The American Cicnona Plantation), on the Caribbean slope of Volcán Poas, [Heredia Province,] Costa Rica". Type locality discussed by Savage, 1974, Rev. Biol. Type locality: "2 miles W. of Isla Bonita (The American Cinchona Plantation) on the Caribbean slope of Volcán Poas, [Cantón de Alajuela, Provincia de Alajuela,] Costa Rica". Distribution
Elevations of 500-1500 m on the Caribbean and Pacific slopes of the Central Highlands and the Cordillera de Tilarán in Costa Rica and from 1600-1700 m on the Pacific slopes of the Cordillera de Talamanca in extreme western Panama.
