Comment

See Bokermann, 1964, Senckenb. Biol., 45: 252. Lutz, 1973, Brazil. Spec. Hyla: 88-93, regarded Hyla acreana, Hyla melanargyrea, and Hyla novaisi as subspecies of Hyla senicula. Heyer, 1977, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 31: 141-162, re-elevated Hyla acreana to species status. Caramaschi and Jim, 1983, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 43: 198, disputed the subspecific status of Hyla melanargyrea and Hyla novaisi, and elevated them to species status. See account by Heyer, Rand, Cruz, Peixoto, and Nelson, 1990, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 31: 273-274. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 43, provided a brief account and photo.
