Hyla haddadi Bastos and Pombal, 1996, Amphibia-Reptilia, 17: 326. Holotype: MNRJ 17325, by original designation. Type locality: "Mata do Queixada, Município de Conceição da Barra (18° 35′ S: 39° 44′ W; sea level), Estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil".

In the Hyla microcephala group according to the original publication. In the Dendropsophus microcephalus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 91-92. Amorim, Santos, and Guarnieri, 2009, Herpetol. Rev., 40: 445, provided the record from the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Ruas, Mendes, Ribeiro, and Solé, 2012, Zootaxa, 3250: 63-65, reported on the advertisement call. Araujo, Moraes e Silva, Galdino, Nascimento, and Lisboa, 2012, Check List, 8: 248-250, provided a record for Alagoas, Brazil, and commented on the range and color patterns. Lourenço-de-Moraes, Campos, and Toledo, 2012, Zootaxa, 3476: 86-88, reported on larval morphology.
