Distribution

Brazil, in Atlantic forest from sea level to 800 from Bahia to São Paulo; from Minas Gerais in transitional Atlantic forest-cerrado and caatinga formations, as well as in the municipality of Morretes in Paraná and the municipality of Timbó in northeastern Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Removed from the synonymy of Hyla leucophyllata by Caramaschi and Jim, 1982, Cienc. Cult., São Paulo, Supl., 7: 848, where it had been placed by Tschudi, 1838, Classif. Batr.: 72; Duméril and Bibron, 1841, Erp. Gen., 8: 607; and Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 387. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 48, provided a brief account and photo. Lingnau and Bastos, 2002, Herpetol. Rev., 33: 316-317, provided the record for Paraná, Brazil. In the Dendropsophus leucophyllatus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 91.
