Distribution
Brazil, in Atlantic forest from sea level to 800 from Bahia to São Paulo; from Minas Gerais in transitional Atlantic forest-cerrado and caatinga formations, as well as in the municipality of Morretes in Paraná and the municipality of Timbó in northeastern Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Batr.: 72; Duméril and Bibron, 1841, Erp. Gen., 8: 607; and Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 387. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf.
