Hyla saxicola Bokermann, 1964, Neotropica, 10: 71. Holotype: WCAB 14734, by original designation; now MZUSP. Type locality: "Palacio, Serra do Cipó, Jaboticatubas, Minas Gerais, Brasil"; restated by Pombal and Caramaschi, 1995, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 363: 3, as "Brasil—Minas Gerais—Santana do Riacho (19° 00′ S, 47° 57′ W; anteriormente parte do município de Jaboticatubas), Serra do Cipó, Palácio".

Removed from the synonymy of Hyla pseudopseudis by Pombal and Caramaschi, 1995, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 363: 1, where it had been placed by Lutz, 1973, Brazil. Spec. Hyla: 24. In the Bokermannohyla pseudopseudis group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 83-84. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 55-56, provided a photograph and brief account (as Hyla saxicola).
