Type locality: "Palacio, Serra do Cipó, Jaboticatubas, Minas Gerais, Brasil"; restated by Pombal and Caramaschi, 1995, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 363: 3, as "Brasil—Minas Gerais—Santana do Riacho (19° 00′ S, 47° 57′ W; anteriormente parte do município de Jaboticatubas), Serra do Cipó, Palácio".

In the Bokermannohyla pseudopseudis group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 83-84. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 55-56, provided a photograph and brief account (as Hyla saxicola).
