Hyla albofrenata Lutz, 1924, C. R. Mém. Hebd. Séances Soc. Biol. Filial., Paris, 90 (1925, vol. 1): 241. Syntypes: Not stated, presumably originally in IOC, but transferred to the MNRJ; according to Cochran, 1961, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 220: 50, and Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 25-26, syntypes are AL-MNRJ 577 (2 specimens, Tijuca), USNM 96478 (Angra dos Reis), 96319 (Sumare), 96339-45 (Paineiras); MCZ 25695 (on exchange from USNM, considered a syntype by Barbour and Loveridge, 1946, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 96: 120); UMMZ 68786 (3 adults, 2 tadpoles) regarded as syntypes by Kluge, 1983, Misc. Publ. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 166: 41. Type locality: "Environs of Rio de Janeiro", Brazil. Corrected to "Tijuca", "Angra dos Reis", "Sumare", and "Paneiras", all in the vicinity of Rio de Janeiro, by Cochran, 1961, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 220: 50.
