Type locality: Not designated; given as "Rio de Janeiro", Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by Miranda-Ribeiro, 1955, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 42: 409, and Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 13.

Corythomantis apicalis Miranda-Ribeiro, 1920, Rev. Mus. Paulista, São Paulo, 12: 89. Holotype: MZUSP 163, according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 7. Type locality: "[state of] Espirito Santo", Brazil. Synonymy by Carvalho, 1941, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 1: 101.

Corythomantis adspersa Lutz, 1925, C. R. Mém. Hebd. Séances Soc. Biol. Filial., Paris, 93 (1925, vol. 2): 213. Holotype: Not stated, but USNM 96413 and MNRJ 650 were considered syntypes by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 7 (although the original description is specifically based on a single specimen). Type locality: "Nitheroi", (= Niteroi), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Synonymy by Carvalho, 1941, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 1: 101.

Coastal lowlands of southeastern Brazil from Espírito Santo to São Paulo.
