Holotype: Not stated, but USNM 96413 and MNRJ 650 were considered syntypes by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 7 (although the original description is specifically based on a single specimen). Type locality: "Nitheroi", (= Niteroi), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Synonymy by Carvalho, 1941, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 1: 101.
