Hyla warreni Duellman and Hoogmoed, 1992, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 147: 10. Holotype: BMNH 1979.561, by original designation. Type locality: "north slope of Mt. Roraima (05° 38′ N, 60° 44′ W, elev. 1,480 m), Rupununi District, Guyana". Warren, 1973, Roraima: 47, mapped the locality (discussed on page 80) as ca. 05°17′ N.
Warren's Treefrog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 58).
Mount Roraima and Mount Ayanganna in southwestern Guyana.
Not assignable to species group, according to the original publication. Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 111, could not assign this species to any of the currently recognized taxa, but pending examination of the type left this species incertae sedis. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2005, Phyllomedusa, 4: 24-25, reported the species on Mt. Ayanganna. Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294, could not allocate several members of former "Hyla" to any of the new genera but believed that they would be so allocated with additional work. As an interim measure they merely allocated these species to the non-taxon "Hyla", clearly not part of the North American-Eurasian clade which bears the name Hyla. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2009, R. Ontario Mus. Contrib. Sci., 4: 13, commented on specimens from Mount Ayanganna, Guyana. Kok, MacCulloch, Means, Roelants, Van Bocxlaer, and Bossuyt, 2012, Curr. Biol., 22: R589-R590, and Kok, MacCulloch, Means, Roelants, Van Bocxlaer, and Bossuyt, 2012, Curr. Biol. (Suppl. Inform.), 22: 1-25, provided a molecular tree of tepui populations that suggested that this species may be associated with Tepuihyla, a not-so-surprising result.
