Distribution

Known only from the type locality in Amazonas, Brazil.

See discussion by Duellman, 1974, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 27: 4, of the enigmatic unique type. Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 111, could not assign this species to any of the currently recognized taxa, but pending examination of the type left this species incertae sedis. Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294, could not allocate several members of former "Hyla" to any of the new genera but believed that they would be so allocated with additional work. As an interim measure they merely allocated these species to the non-taxon "Hyla", clearly not part of the North American-Eurasian clade which bears the name Hyla.
