Hemisus brachydactylus Laurent, 1963, Copeia, 1963: 396. Holotype: MCZ 16469, by original designation. Type locality: "Masiliwa, Tanganyika [= Tanzania]".

Hemisus brachydactylum —Laurent In Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 109. Incorrect subsequent spelling.

English Names

Masiliwa Shovelsnout Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 51).

Short-fingered Snout-burrower (Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 125).

Distribution

Two localities in open woodland in central Tanzania.
