Gastrotheca pulchra Caramaschi and Rodrigues, 2007, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 525: 9. Holotype: MZUSP 85970, by original designation. Type locality: BRAZIL: BAHIA: Reserva Biológica de Pau Brasil (CEPLAC), 15 km NW of Porto Seguro (16° 22′ S, 39° 10′ W, 30 m altitude)".

Freitas, Silva, and Fonseca, 2009, Herpetol. Rev., 40: 233-234, provided a range extension and detailed the previous records. Santos and Santos, 2009, Herpetol. Rev., 40: 445, provided a record for Pernambuco, Brazil, and commented on the range.
