Nototrema peruanum Boulenger, 1900, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 7, 6: 181. Syntypes: BMNH 1947.2.22.42-46 (formerly 1900.6.20.46-50) according to Condit, 1964, J. Ohio Herpetol. Soc., 4: 87. Type locality: "Carao [= Caraz], 7000 feet altitude", Departamento Ancash, Peru.

Type locality: "Huamachuco a 3,650 mts. sobre el nivel del mar, en las orillas del río Condebamba afluente del Marañón", Departamento La Libertad, Peru. Subspecies status rejected by Duellman and Fritts, 1972, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 9: 11.

Gastrotheca peruana junensis Vellard, 1957, Mem. Mus. Hist. Nat. Javier Prado, 5: 33. Holotype: MUSM 195. Morales, Carrillo, and Ortega, 1990, Publ. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Nac. Mayor San Marcos, 33: 5, apparently regarded the holotype to be part of a syntypic series and designated MUSM 1595 (formerly 195) as lectotype. Type locality: "riachuelo arriba de la laguna de Punrun, 4,600 mts.", Departamento Pasco, Peru. Subspecies status rejected by Duellman and Fritts, 1972, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 9: 11.

Distribution

Andes and inter-Andean valleys of northern and central Peru, 2300-4600 m elevation.
