Mayor San Marcos, 33: 5, apparently regarded the holotype to be part of a syntypic series and designated MUSM 1595 (formerly 195) as lectotype. Type locality: "riachuelo arriba de la laguna de Punrun, 4,600 mts.", Departamento Pasco, Peru. Subspecies status rejected by Duellman and Fritts, 1972, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ.
