In the Gastrotheca marsupiata group by implication of Duellman, Maxson, and Jesiolowski, 1988, Copeia, 1988: 527-543. See Cei, 1980, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Monogr., 2: 443-444. See Laurent, Lavilla, and Teran, 1986, Acta Zool. Lilloana, 38: 171-210, for distributional records. De la Riva, Köhler, Lötters, and Reichle, 2000, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 14: 58, thought this species possibly to occur in Bolivia.
