Distribution
Coastal lowlands of Pernambuco and far south of there in coastal Bahia, eastern Brazil, below 700 m elevation.
Comment
In the Gastrotheca ovifera group by implication of Duellman, Maxson, and Jesiolowski, 1988, Copeia, 1988: 527-543. See account by Caramaschi and Rodrigues, 2007, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 525: 1-19. Confused with Gastrotheca megacephala prior to the naming of the latter. Mendes, Ruas, Lourenço-de-Moraes, Rödder, and Solé, 2012, Zootaxa, 3312: 62-64, reported on advertisement call and range, suggesting sympatry with Gastrotheca megacephala in coastal Bahia, Brazil.
