Pacific slopes of Andes in southern Colombia (Antioquia, Risaralda, Chocó, Valle de Cauca, and Cauca) as well as an isolated population on the eastern slopes of the Central Cordillera in Caldas (Colombia), 1230-2090 m elevation; isolated record in Pichinca Province in northern Ecuador.
In the Gastrotheca ovifera group of Duellman, Maxson, and Jesiolowski, 1988, Copeia, 1988: 527-543. Gutiérrez-C. and Barrientos, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 474-475, provided a record from the Cordillera Central of Antioquia Department, Colombia, and discussed the range in Colombia.
