Fritzia Miranda-Ribeiro, 1920, Rev. Mus. Paulista, São Paulo, 12: 327. Type species: Hyla goeldi Boulenger, 1895, by original designation. Junior homonym of Fritzia Cambridge (Arachnidae). Objective synonym of Fritziana Mello-Leitão, 1937.

Discussed by Duellman and Gray, 1983, Herpetologica, 39: 333-358. Removed from the synonymy of Flectonotus on phylogenetic grounds by Duellman, Jungfer, and Blackburn, 2011, Phyllomedusa, 10: 15-29, where it had been placed by Weygoldt and Carvalho-e-Silva, 1991, Amphibia-Reptilia, 12: 67-80.
