Heleophryne hewitti Boycott, 1988, Ann. Cape Prov. Mus. (Nat. Hist.), 16: 310. Holotype: AMG A 621, by original designation; now in PEM. Type locality: "Upper reaches of the Geelhoutboom River, Loerie Forest Reserve, Elandsberg Mountains (3325 CC Loerie), Eastern Cape Province, South Africa . . . . 33° 47′ 54 S, 25° 03′ 43 E. Alt. 420 m".

Distribution

Restricted to four perennial rivers (Geelhoutboom, Martin's, Klein, and Diepkloof) with their headwaters in the Elandsberg Range, Eastern Cape Province, Rep. South Africa, 400-550 m elevation
