Powell, 1993, Herpetol. Rev., 24: 135-137, suggested that Eleutherodactylus ruthae tychaethrous warranted binominal status. In the Eleutherodactylus (Pelorius) ruthae species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 86, who formalized recognition of this taxon as a species.
