Distribution

Hispaniola; in Haiti on the northwest slope of Pic Macaya and the eastern foothils; north of Cavaillon on the Massif de la Hotte and the southern slopes of the Massif de la Selle, 333-1212 m elevation.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus ricordii group, according to Schwartz, 1965, Stud. Fauna Curaçao and other Caribb. Is., 22: 104. Taxonomic disposition discussed by Lynch and Schwartz, 1971, J. Herpetol., 5: 104-109. The unjustified (but understandable) emendation Eleutherodactylus oxyrhynchus has had nearly universal use (DRF). Subgenus Euhyas; not assignable to species group according to Hedges, 1989, in Woods (ed.), Biogeograph. W. Indies: 325. In the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) ricordii group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 229.
