Syrrhophus modestus Taylor, 1942, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 28: 304. Holotype: EHT-HMS 3756, by original designation; now FMNH 100048 according to Marx, 1976, Fieldiana, Zool., 69: 66. Type locality: "Hacienda Paso del Río, Colima, México".
