Comment

Poynton and Loader, 2008, Copeia, 2008: 517-526, discussed this taxon and Poynton, Menegon, and Loader, 2009 "2008", Afr. J. Herpetol., 57: 63-74, provided more. Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 55-56, provided an acount and map. Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 99-172, summarized the literature. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 146. Loader, Poynton, Lawson, Blackburn, and Menegon, 2011, Fieldiana, Life Earth Sci., 4: 94, restricted the range to the West Usambara Mountains, implying that records from the East Usambara, Nguru, and Ukaguru Mountains are based on misidentifications.
