Distribution

Humid lowlands of eastern Honduras south through Central America to western Panama.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus diastema group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 223. Ruiz-Carranza, Ardila-Robayo, and Lynch, 1996, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 20: 396, noted that Colombian records required confirmation, and Lynch, 2001, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 25: 287-297, found all of these records to be attributable to other species. Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 272-273, provided an account, noted that additional species might be found under this name, and placed this species in his Eleutherodactylus martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus diastema group. McCranie, Nicholson, and Casteñeda, 2002, Herpetol. Rev., 33: 220, reported the Honduras record and commented on the range. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 38, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. Transferred to Diasporus by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 47, on the basis of molecular data.
