MCZ 15361 designated lectotype by Manamendra-Arachchi and Gabadage, 1996, J. South Asian Nat. Hist., 2: 31-42. Type locality: "Ceylon" and "hills of central Ceylon", Sri Lanka.

Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 129, provided range, systematic comments, and a taxonomic bibliography and doubted records from Karnataka, India. Sumida, Kotaki, Islam, Djong, Igawa, Kondo, Matsui, de Silva, Khonsue, and Nishioka, 2007, Zool. Sci., Tokyo, 24: 547-562, reported a distant relationship to other members of the Fejervarya limnocharis complex.
