Most similar to Paa quadranus according to the original publication. Chen and Jiang, 2004, Acta Zootaxon. Sinica, 29: 381-385, redescribed the species. Dubois, Crombie, and Glaw, 2005, Alytes, 23: 43, noted that the name, even though a patronymic for a woman is not emendable to yeae (see also Brandon-Jones, Duckworth, Jenkins, Rylands, and Sarmiento, 2007, Zootaxa, 1541: 41-48, and Dubois, 2007, Zootaxa, 1550: 49-68). Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1443-1449, provided an accounts (as Yerana yei), figures, and map. Not addressed, and therefore not assigned to subgenus, by Che, Zhou, Hu, Papenfuss, Wake, and Zhang, 2010, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.
