Rana mawlyndipi Chanda, 1990, J. Bengal Nat. Hist. Soc., N.S.,, 9: 44. Holotype: ZSI-KZ 983, by original designation. Type locality: "Mawlyndip, Khasi hills, Meghalaya, (alt. ca 1498 m.)", northeastern India.

Limnonectes (Limnonectes) mawlyndipi — Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 316.

Limnonectes mawlindipi — Das and Dutta, 1998, Hamadryad, 23: 65. Incorrect subsequent spelling.

English Names

Mawlyndipi Wart Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 100).

Mawlindip Frog (Das and Dutta, 1998, Hamadryad, 23: 65; Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Gururaja, and Bhatta, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 302: 29).

Distribution

Known from the type locality in the Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, and Darjeeling, West Bengal, eastern India.

Comment

Most similar to Limnonectes doriae according to the original publication. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 127-128, provided a brief account (as Rana mawlyndipi). Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 135-136, provided range and partial taxonomic bibliography. Mathew and Sen, 2010, Pict. Guide Amph. NE India: 39, provided a brief characterization and photographs and did not include West Bengal as part of the range.
