Colostethus pulcherrimus Duellman, 2004, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ. Kansas, 35: 34. Holotype: KU 211946, by original designation. Type locality: "immediate vicinity of Cutervo (06° 22′ S, 78° 49′ W, 2620 m), Provincia de Cutervo, Departamento de Cajamarca, Peru".

Known only from the vicinity of Cutervo, a village at an elevation of 2620 m in a cultivated valley in the northern part of the Cordillera Occidental, Provincia de Cutervo, Departamento de Cajamarca, Peru.
