Köhler and Günther, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 47: 353-365, were unable to include this taxon in their molecular study of Asterophryinae systematics. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, in their study of Genbank sequences, did not address this taxon.
