Comment
Heyer, 1975, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 199: 1-55, considered this genus most closely related to Pseudopaludicola. Dunn, 1949, Am. Mus. Novit., 1416: 1-10, provided notes on the two species. See account by Duellman and Morales, 1990, Stud. Neotrop. Fauna Environ., 25: 19-30. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, in their phylogenetic study of Genbank sequences, suggested that Edalorhina is the sister taxon of the Engystomops-Eupemphix-Physalaemus clade.
