Comment

As originally formed this taxon contains all members of the former Hyla pseudopuma and Hyla pictipes group as defined by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2, with the exception of Hyla thorectes, which was transferred into Plectrohyla. Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 98, placed Isthmohyla in their Hylini and recognized two species groups: Isthmohyla pseudopuma group and Isthmohyla pictipes group (formed by union of the former Hyla lancasteri, Hyla pictipes, Hyla rivularis, and Hyla zeteki groups of Duellman, 1970, Monogr. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas). In Hylini of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 89. See comment under "Hyla" melacaena which likely is a member of this taxon.
