Euparkerella Griffiths, 1959, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 132: 477. Type species: Sminthillus brasiliensis Parker, 1926, by original designation.

English Names

Guanabara Frogs (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 80).

Distribution

Atlantic coastal forests in the states of Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Comment

Reviewed by Izecksohn, 1988, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 48: 59-74, who suggested (as did Giaretta and Sawaya, 1998, Copeia, 1998: 987) that Euparkerella might be most closely related to Brachycephalus (see comment under Brachycephalus). See comment under Adelophryne. Provisional association of this genus with Holoadeninae by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 99, on the basis of its morphological similarity to Holoaden.
