Comment

Tihen, 1960, Copeia, 1960: 225-233, suggested that Pseudobufo is a paedomorphic close relative of Ansonia. Smith and Chiszar, 2006, Herpetol. Conserv. Biol., 1: 6-8, implied that this taxon should be considered a subgenus of Bufo; see comment under Bufonidae. This taxon has not been included in any of the recent large-scale molecular phylogenies of bufonids, so its relationships remain obscure.
