Comment

Removed as a subfamily of Ceratophryidae from the synonymy of Ceratophryinae by Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299: 152, where it had been placed by Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 208. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, on the basis of their study of genbank sequences and employing a different analytical approach, suggested that Batrachylidae is more closely related to Rhinodermatidae, a group they removed from Cycloramphidae. For more discussion of the systematics of this group see comments under Ceratophryidae and Cycloramphidae. See also Blotto, Nuñez, Basso, Úbeda, Wheeler, and Faivovich, 2012, Cladistics, In press: xxx, for reidentification for some of the genbank sequences upon which these conclusions were based.
