The cardueline finches are a group of about 120 species of small, colorful finches in the avian Subfamily Carduelinae of the Family Fringillidae. Depending on the classification used, the carduelines have been divided into about 18 genera.
A compact and well-illustrated source of information on all species of carduelines can be found in the book Finches & Sparrows (Clement, Harris, and Davis, 1993, Princeton Univ. Press).
