I study parasite diversity.
Many of the species living today are parasitic, but we have a generally poor understanding of what these species are and how new parasite species are formed. My research is focused on both discovering new parasite species and understanding the factors influencing parasite diversification. Most of this research is on the nematode and malaria parasites of Caribbean anole lizards. I am particulary interested in how parasite life history traits, host specificity, and the environment affect diversification, and am working on methods that incorporate many kinds of data into single analyses.
