Pictures from the AMNH expedition to Central African Republic, July 1998

**sorry, there is very little here right now... still under construction**

The ornithological team consisted of: Pamela Beresford, Joel Cracraft, Ana Luz Porzecanski, and Paul Sweet.

We arrived at the CAR capital, Bangui, and from there flew in a small plane, over what seemed an ocean of endless forest to the Dzanga-Sangha Reserve (the Bayanga "airport"), near the village of Bayanga, on the shores of the Sangha river. We mainly used elephant trails to move around the forest (me on a trail), and in fact encountered elephants many times on these trails. We also took side trips to the other side of the river on pirogues, to rivers where fishing barrages had been set up, and to a savanna patch, where we were hosted by a wonderful family, with many children .

To be continued....!
