Cathi Lehn, AMNH UMEB Coordinator and mentor

After receiving a doctoral degree in Genetics from Texas A&M University, Cathi spent one year at the University of Pretoria, South Africa as a post-doctoral fellow.  In addition to training graduate students in new technologies, she also began a genetic study on South African baboons (Papio hamadryas ursinus).  After her fellowship in South Africa, Cathi was employed by the Wildlife Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo as a Conservation Biologist.  She has worked for and with zoological parks for many years and is currently the Chair of the Biomaterials Banking Advisory Group of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.  Based at AMNH for the past six years, Cathi is now the Content Coordinator for the new Hall of Human Origins working with curators Rob DeSalle and Ian Tattersall.  She is also currently working in the molecular lab on Wolbachia, a bacterium that infect insects and disrupts their reproductive systems.
