This is the first American Museum of Natural History Vertebrate Paleontology expedition. Dr. Jacob L. Wortman, who previously worked for Edward Drinker Cope, lead this expedition to the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming, to collect Eocene fossil mammals. His book contains lists of specimens that he brought back to the museum that year.
