My dear Walter:

I am in receipt of your letter No. 6, and hope you may get some more results from the Ralston and round up the remains of the Gray Bull beds to your satisfaction.

As regards Stein, I am enclosing two certificates signed as Curator; one covering simply the summer of 1908, the other covering all the period of which I have personal knowledge.

As regards the winter of 1908-9 it is not according to my recollection that Stein was then in New York. As far as I recall, he was in New York and visited at the Museum from time to time during the preceding winter 1907-8, after he left the museum employ, but that at the close of the season of 1908 he stayed at Agate, Nebraska for part or all of the time until he joined you in 1909. The Cooks could testify as to this from personal knowledge, if I am correct. I have written to Thomson asking him to make a deposition as to his personal knowledge and to get Harold Cook or his father to cover the period May 1908 - May 1909 if I recall matters aright.

Sincerely yours,

W. D. Matthews

Curator.

Mr. Walter Granger,

Otto, Wyoming.
