Toloonops veracruz       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 49252). Total length 1.48. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace pale orange, without any pattern, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides finely reticulate, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin undulate, rebordered, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae needle-like, present, scattered; non-marginal pars thoracica setae needle-like; marginal setae needle-like. Clypeus margin unmodified, curved downwards in front view, vertical in lateral view, low, ALE separated from edge of carapace by less than their radius, median projection absent; setae present, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, ALE largest, ALE oval, PME squared, PLE oval; posterior eye row recurved from above, straight from front; ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum longer than wide, yellow, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, with radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, furrow smooth, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, without pits, microsculpture absent, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, lateral margin without infra-coxal grooves, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles present, lateral margins unmodified, without posterior hump, symmetrical elevations at anterior sternum rim present, posteriorly of slits; setae abundant, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium pale orange. Chelicerae straight, anterior face unmodified; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed medially, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae needle-like, evenly scattered, thick, distinctly anteriad directed; paturon inner margin with scattered setae, distal region unmodified, posterior surface unmodified, inner margin unmodified. Labium rectangular, fused to sternum, anterior margin indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 6 or more setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, serrula present in single row, same as sternum in sclerotization, anterolateral rim distinctly stepped (in ventral view), most anterior part hyaline; medially with distinct long, broad, distally truncated projection, posteriad directed. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions yellow, without color pattern. Book lung covers large, ovoid, without setae, anterolateral edge unmodified. Pedicel tube short, unmodified, scuto-pedicel region unmodified, scutum not extending far dorsal of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent, cuticular outgrowths near pedicel absent. Dorsal scutum absent. Epigastric scutum absent. Postepigastric scutum absent. Spinneret scutum absent. Dorsum setae present, needle-like. Epigastric area setae uniform, needle-like. Postepigastric area setae present, needle-like. Spinneret scutum without fringe of setae. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Colulus represented only by setae. LEGS: yellow, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I shorter than carapace, tibia I unmodified, tibia IV specialized hairs on ventral apex absent, tibia IV ventral scopula absent, metatarsi III and IV weak ventral scopula absent. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): tibiae: IV p1-0-1; v0-1-2; r1-0-1; metatarsi: III, IV v0-1-0. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore not visible; furrow without omega-shaped insertions, without setae. Palp normal size, not strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments yellow; embolus dark, prolateral excavation absent, embolus tube shaped, moderately flatened, abruptly curved prolaterad, distally tapering, tip distinctly flattened with pronounced anterior rim, embolus opening located ventrally at 3/4 of embolus length, triangular; trochanter normal size, unmodified; femur normal size, two or more times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella shorter than femur, not enlarged, without prolateral row of ridges, setae unmodified; tibia trichobothria not examined; cymbium yellow, not fused with bulb, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb, plumose setae absent, without stout setae, without distal patch of setae, male palpal cymbium shape in dorsal view subrectangular, tarsal organ male palpal cymbium tarsal organ with 2 sensilla; cymbial cone present, located next to tarsal organ, close to distal cymbial rim; bulb yellow, more than 2 times as long as cymbium, stout, tapering apically, basal part bulbous protruding ventrally, distal part conductor reduced, short finger-shaped, straight, originating ventroprolaterally at embolus base.

            Female (PBI_OON 1633). Total length 1.39. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Female palp claws absent; spines present, formula: tibia p1-0-1; tarsus p2-2-2, v0-0-1; tarsus unmodified, patella without prolateral row of ridges. ABDOMEN: Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Pedicel scutum absent, but abdomen not extending anterior of pedicel. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, not surrounding pedicel, strongly protruding, small lateral sclerites absent, without lateral joints. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, yellow, short, only around epigastric furrow, not fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. LEGS: Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg IV: leg IV missing. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Ventral view: externally with lateral extensions, median and anterior genitalic sclerites visible through epigastric scutum. Dorsal view: internally with distinct, narrow lateral extensions, wide U-shaped, anterior genitalic process tubelike, protruding anteriorly, distally with enlarged apex, median genitalic sclerite anteriorly goblet-like, posterior genitalic process, pocket-like, broad oval, dorsally covered by porous, symmetrically wingshaped, moderately sclerotized lamella.
