Gamasomorpha keri       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 12769). Total length 3.00. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace red-brown, without any pattern, ovoid in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge with pair of pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides smooth, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, carapace lateral margins smooth but slightly undulated from dorsal view. Carapace with two pairs of tiny spikes and a third, ventral pair of rounded extensions, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, rebordered, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae light, needle-like, present in u-shaped row; non-marginal pars thoracica setae light, needle-like; marginal setae light, needle-like, non-marginal pars cephalica setae present in u-shpaed row with a longitudinal middle-row. Clypeus margin slightly rebordered, straight in front view, vertical in lateral view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, median projection absent; setae present, light, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, ALE, PME subequal, larger than PLE, ALE oval, PME oval, PLE circular; posterior eye row recurved from above, procurved from front; ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum longer than wide, orange-brown, uniform, fused to carapace, median concavity absent, with radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, furrow with row of large pits, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, covered with large round pits, microsculpture only in furrows, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin with interrupted transverse groove, posterior margin extending posteriorly beyond anterior edges of coxae IV as single extension, anterior corner unmodified, lateral margin with infra-coxal grooves and anterior and posterior openings, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles absent, lateral margins with indented extensions between coxae, with posterior hump, sternum furrow structure row of large, rather fused than round pits; setae abundant, light, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium orange-brown. Chelicerae slightly divergent, anterior face unmodified; without teeth on both promargin and retromargin; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed medially, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with scattered setae, distal region abruptly narrowed, posterior surface unmodified, promargin with row of flattened setae, inner margin unmodified. Labium rectangular, fused to sternum, anterior margin indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 6 or more setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, serrula present in single row, anteromedian tip unmodified, posteromedian part unmodified, same as sternum in sclerotization. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions white, without color pattern. Book lung covers large, ovoid, without setae, anterolateral edge unmodified. Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Pedicel tube medium, with small, dorsolateral, triangular extensions, scuto-pedicel region with paired curved scutal ridges, scutum not extending far dorsal of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent, cuticular outgrowths near pedicel absent. Dorsal scutum strongly sclerotized, red-brown, without color pattern, covering full length of abdomen, no soft tissue visible from above, not fused to epigastric scutum, middle surface punctate, sides punctate, anterior half without projecting denticles. Epigastric scutum strongly sclerotized, surrounding pedicel, slightly protuding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum strongly sclerotized, red-brown, long, semicircular, covering nearly full length of abdominal length, fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum present, incomplete ring. Supra-anal scutum absent. Dorsum setae present, light, plumose. Epigastric area setae uniform, light, plumose. Postepigastric area setae present, light, plumose. Spinneret scutum with fringe of long setae. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Interscutal membrane with setae. Colulus present. LEGS: orange-brown, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I near as long as carapace, tibia I unmodified, tibia I Emerit’s glands absent, tibia IV specialized hairs on ventral apex present, tibia IV ventral scopula absent, metatarsi I and II meso-apical comb absent, metatarsi III and IV weak ventral scopula absent, tibiae specialized hairs on ventral apex of tibia III and IV with even hair-shaft and a bent, narrowing, plumose, hair tip, tarsi scopula present between claws. Leg spines absent. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria examined with SEM; tibia: each with three; metatarsus: each with one; base longitudinally narrowed, aperture internal texture not grate-like, hood smooth. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore small, oval, situated at level of anterior spiracles, rebordered; furrow without omega-shaped insertions, without setae. Palp normal size, not strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments pale orange; embolus dark, prolateral excavation absent, long, slender, lamellar embolus about as long as bulbus. Conductor about as long as embolus split into two parts half way to the distal tip. Embolus-conductor-complex bent proximally fitting into the interrupted transverse groove at anterior end of sternum; trochanter normal size, with ventral projection; femur normal size, two or more times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella shorter than femur, not enlarged, without prolateral row of ridges, setae unmodified; tibia trichobothria with 3 trichobothria; cymbium pale orange, ovoid in dorsal view, fused with bulb but with clearly defined seam between, extending beyond distal tip of bulb, plumose setae absent, without stout setae, with distal patch of setae; bulb pale orange, shorter than cymbium, stout, tapering apically.

            Female (PBI_OON 12769). Total length 3.57. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace carapace lateral margins smooth but slightly undulated from dorsal view. Carapace with two pairs of tiny spikes and a third, ventral pair of rounded extensions.; marginal setae non-marginal pars cephalica setae present in u-shpaed row with a longitudinal middle-row. Sternum sternum furrow structure row of large, rather fused than round pits. Female palp claws absent; spines absent; tarsus unmodified, palp with small pointed appendage on distal tip which may vary in size; trichobothria three trichobothria on tibia.. ABDOMEN: Epigastric scutum without lateral joints. Postepigastric scutum not fused to epigastric scutum. LEGS: tibiae specialized hairs on ventral apex of tibia III and IV with even hair-shaft and a bent, narrowing, plumose, hair tip, tarsi scopula present between claws. Leg spines absent. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria examined with SEM. GENITALIA: Dorsal view: receptaculum roundish with a posterior hump directed ventrally; sac-like structure inside receptaculum; transverse sclerite with attached nail-like structure at anterior side of receptaculum. Special duct lying dorsally of receptaculum clearly longer than half the length of the receptaculum..
